An employer is not required to compensate an employee when the employee is absent from employment because of jury service. However, an employer may not require an employee to use annual, vacation, or sick leave for time spent responding to a jury summons or serving on a jury. See ARS 21 -236
When an employee returns from jury service, he or she must be returned to their previous position or to a higher position if the employee would have been entitled to the higher position had they not served jury duty. An employee cannot lose seniority while serving as a juror.
An employer cannot retaliate against an employee for service on a jury. See ARS 23-1501 (The Arizona Employment Protection Act)
