Paid Sick Time
In Arizona, employees are entitled to a certain amount of earned paid sick leave. Employees earn a minimum of one hour of leave for every 30 hours worked. Arizona employers with fewer than 15 employees must give at least 24 hours of paid sick leave each year. Businesses with 15 or more employees must give a minimum of 40 hours each year.
Employees can use paid sick time for themselves or for family members in the following circumstances:
- Medical care or mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition
- A public health emergency
- Absence due to domestic violence, sexual violence, abuse, or stalking
An employer cannot retaliate against an employee for using paid sick leave.
